I have a pair of juv. percula clowns that I got a week ago they where eating everything I threw in the tank doing great then today they just swim in place and breath very heavy. They look like the are having a hard time swiming like they going to go sideways. I lost a pair of false ones 2 months ago to the same symptoms.

Any help to save my fish would be greatly apprecaited!! :)

they might have brook, any white stringy poop coming out of them.

I would post in the disease forum.

we need more info, tank parameters, etc.

Yes I saw some white stringy poop.

Tank parameters per 2 hours ago
Salinty- 1.026

PH - 8.2
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - .5
Phosphate - .5
ammonia - 0
Calcium - 400
dkh - 7.0 .... Just added a little alk to raise that

Get yourself some formalin. You can dip them or add it to your tank(quarantine only). Do a search on Brooklynella. Good luck with your clowns

Thanks Morgman I just bought a small tank with a little filter and formalin to setup a hospital tank. Now can I just dose the hospital tank and leave the formalin in there? Also how many times should I redose if any?

Thanks again
Chris

One more thing do you think a dip in formalin is enough to rid the fish of brook.

One dip may not be enough and a formalin dip is nothing to take lightly. This stuff is toxic to fish and humans. Not to scare you but take this seriously. There are specific directions in the Disease forum exactly how to perform a formalin dip. Follow them to a T. Please make sure to diloute(sp?) the left over formalin before dumping it in the drain, it could cause problems with your water system.

I have a new baby at home and this will be taken very serious thanks for the warning. I will print out the fomalin dip instructions and follow them.

Thanks!!
