Nice! I'm not that speedy with the manual focus yet, but I did get these two shots with the D90:

I used a top-down acrylic box for this one, but couldn't get it as sharp as I wanted

This one I shot through the front glass using the stock 18-105 lens.

Yes, I took these with the 18-105 VR lens it came with. On the second shot I added a cheap 5x magnifier filter to allow me to get closer.

Those are nice shots kim! You know it was a tough decision for me to choose between the D90 and D300. I was super close to getting the D90 until I realized I shoot a lot of sequential photos for stop motion video and the intervalometer on the D300 will be of great use. If it wasn't for that, I would have bought the D90 in a heartbeat.

d300 is far superior to the d90 imo cuss it's in a whole different class. nonetheless, d90 is still a great camera.

Far superior probably depends on what you're trying to do with it. The D300 is an awesome camera and is the one I had planned on buying. Well, that or the 40D. But, it's very heavy, expensive, and lacks the HD movie mode the D90 includes. If you add a flash unit, battery grip, and decent lens, the weight can get to be a problem if you're hand-holding for very long. The megapixels are the same, but the reviews I read indicate that the D90 does a better job in a few areas, including exposure control. If you have someone else using the camera, the D90 also has a few point and shoot modes that will come in handy. I wouldn't trade my D90 for a D300 with even money, but now that I'm a loyal D90 owner, why would I say otherwise?
