My new Diver's Den red Haddoni

The door bell rang at 9:30 this morning, and it was the FedEx man -- telling me that I have some "fishies". Was happy to see him, the weather had been bad overnight and was a bit worried that there would be flight issues.

The box was in great shape, as always.

Here is the spot I plan on it going --- of course this is assume that the anemone is happy there, but I had another one there that I sold to a local reefer, so I think it will work.

A little blurry, the lights were still off.

Here is the box (( already removed from the cardboard box ))

The bag,

It was bagged 6 times!!

The final bag, the anemone is a bit small, but that was a HUGE bag.

Floating in the tank,

After floating it, it was time to put it in the acclimation bucket.

Not wanting it to stick to my hand, I put on a glove,

red7.jpg

Here it is in a little tupperware container -- the reason for it will be shown shortly

In the acclimation bucket. Since I didn't want the temp to drop, I put a heater in there, and a little powerhead to circulate the water. The little tupperware was so the anemone wouldn't touch the heater. The PVC pipe was to weigh the container down.

Its new home. I suspect that it will be opened up more when I get home from work.

I left the lights on their normal schedule, but have 2 layers of screening b/t the tank and the lights.

it looks extremely healthy!

Thank you for showing how DD ships so I can feel confident buying from them.

oooooo, i really like red haddonis. how much did that little guy cost ya?

It wasn't cheap. The price was b/t $500 and $1,000

Looks very healthy, great step by step demo!

Yeah, I think so too, its mouth was pretty good all things considered. Sure thing, had a few more pictures, but had left the focus in manual and they were super blurry.

Such a nice anemone! Goodluck with it

Thank you, been looking for this color for a long time.

Nice anemone, looks really healthy even in the bag. Best of luck with him.

Out of all the Haddonis that I have received this one looked the best -- in the bag.

Sure thing. They do a wonderful just of packing and shipping, I would never worry about ordering from them. Of course I have had good luck with FedEx too, all the drivers I have dealt with were great. One cold winter Saturday the driver came to my door sweating --- he had turned up the heat in the truck (( the heat is only in the front )), so my package wouldn't get cold. Didn't want to tell him about the heat packs, but going the extra mile meant a great deal to me.

Wow, such a nice score!
And good step by step on the REALLY proper way to acclimate them.
I'd treat that nem like gold too, especially since it's about worth it's weight in gold!LOL
Hope it stays there, I'm sure after all these years you have a pretty good feel about placement.
I'm expecting many pics to come later, wonder if a new avatar is in your future?LOL

Thanks a lot Dave, I wanted to show how I go about acclimating. Not saying it is the best way, but the way that has worked the best for me.

No doubt, I am sure that it is more then its weight in gold. ;)

lol I get too confused when others change their avatars, so won't be changing mine.

Hey Todd, congrats on the new beautiful red Haddoni. :D I can't wait to see more pictures. So far your new Haddoni looks fantastic.

Thanks a lot. Will be taking plenty o' pics.

Thanks a lot. After having my hand swell up after a different Haddoni stung me pretty good (( tried to save a frag that I had knocked into it )), I won't touch them without gloves.

That is because your money is loony. ;)

I haven't seen it yet -- was out of town for Easter. But, will have to look for it. But, the one in your avatar is great looking.

Here are some pictures from a couple of minutes ago. :)

Should note, that with the window screening I have, the white balance on my camera was all messed up, so it is brighter in person.

You should be able to see a piece of acrylic behind the anemone. There is a little "hole" b/t the rocks, and didn't want to take a risk of it going through that hole. So, I placed the acrylic there (( all the way down to the bottom glass )) in hopes of keeping it from going through the hole.

As I was taking pics my saddleback and Talbot's damsel got in the way. :)

And lastly taken with a flash,

Very gorgeous indeed, and I like the acrylic trick, never thought of that, I'm usually scrounging for a rock that fits/blocks path.
