My new favorite fish

Cancer Sucks
I'm not much of a fish person, but I'm really liking the Painted Fairy Wrasse I got today. The red wrasse I got today is ok, but the painted wrasse is amazing. He's still camera shy, but I'll get a picture and post it soon enough.

Incidentally, I ended up covering the back opening of my canopy with eggcrate rather than the water. (Scott, thanks for the idea) I'll have to watch my water temp in case it cuts the ventilation down too much, since I have 3 halides and 2 VHO and no chiller. So far, though, the 2 Ice Cap fans have kept it from rising at all. Even when the house gets to 78 degrees, the water temp stays the same 80.1.

One thing I found with only closing off the back of the canopy to keep fish in is the potential for them to die a hot death on the center brace of the aquarium. I lost 4 firefish in 2 days on the center brace in my home tank, they were all cooked dry.

I guess that will be the big downside. I just didn't want to have to move the eggcrate every time I reach in. So far neither has been the least bit jumpy, so hopefully they won't be jumpers. I had a firefish for a long time that was easily startled. He never jumped out of the water, just zipped into the rocks or glass. That turned out to be his downfall. In my old 30 gallon, he didn't have enough places to hide, so he stayed out and ate. After I moved to the 55, he had plenty of places and always hid during feeding time, eventually starving.

I know, rambling from one subject to another...

Got a picture:

The more I look at the picture Hmmmmm just makes have to write it down on my list for my new tank.

Thanks Ed.

Senn, I don't see how you can go wrong. Besides the looks, it's really friendly and certainly an interesting fish.

They are very cool fish and don't seem to bother anyone- very docile. Mine was actually picked on a little at first by a sixline we had but now that he's gone the painted is happy. Yours looks just like mine (of course I think most of them do)-

Good looking fish. You sierra Vista people are lucky, our house get way too hot July and August to go with out a chiller. But $6,000 for AC to use for 2 months, I know, I'm cheap, more money for Reef.

I know of a excellent company for ac I got mine last year 3400 installed 5 ton reem 13 scer IT works like a charm. I was sweating my butt off look at my tank as It was rising to 90 degress and desided to sell my coral to pay for ac that is why I am starting over. Anyway pm me if you want more info
