My New GRAIL paly!

Eh, I went out and bought one...comes wednesday...you guys (me included) need to stop posting pics of awesome palys....im going to be single again soon hahaha.

Its called Tyree Space Monster! It was from Gonzos corals here in Co what is WWC charging PP if ou dont mind me asking? if anyone is interested in a polop pm me I have about 10

I'd love to see a side by side shot with strawberry wines.

That's what I thought the first day it was posted but I didn't want to rain on anyone's parade. nice polyp either way.

I would have bet my house that someone would bring this up...they are not the same paly. Pretty similar but not the same. Take a look at my picture and the pics on zoaID...there is a clear difference. The main thing you notice is the whitish ring at the base of the skirt on the strawberry wines that is not present on the space monsters....the skirts on the SP are also more deep yellow. Think what you want, but they are different palys. both nice of course, but different.

I just saw that Zoanthids.com had a WYSIWYG frag of them, but they are sold now. I have seen some of these in person and they are so bright, way better than strawberry wines. The skirts are so neon bright green.

Not to steal the thead, but here is a side by side of SW next to SM. I agree that they are not the same polyp, however from pictures it can be difficult to tell - once they are side by side in the tank, no question. Don't know that I agree that the SM is way better the SW, think its more a matter of personal opinion - both are very nice zoas.

They are both amazing zoanthids. The pic from the OP is probably the nicest I've seen. Strawberry wines have always been one of my favorites, and people usually point them out when they see my tank. I personally dont see how a slight pattern difference calls for a different name and premium. Just look at how many variations of devils armor and darth maul there are.

Really? How about the difference between Eagle Eye and Whammin Water Melon? Or Organism and Lunars? Darth Maul and Red Speckled? And probably at least 2 dozen others . . . while I understand your point, until there is some standard by which such things are measured, slight pattern differences are going to result in different names and different premiums. I agree that both are amazing zoanthids, but they are different enough that when you have both, there is no issue distinguishing between them.

this is where the whole name gaming and prices come into play and to me its an old song. It is a beautiful paly and to the OP you made my wallet a little thinner (mine comes in tomorrow) so thank you haha.
