My new Mitratus pair

I was surprised too because they were listed on DD as both being 2.25 inches. DD is investigating that for me and I will have an answer Monday from them.

Behavior wise the large one will occasionally give the smaller one a "shove" but they swim rather close when they are both out without problem and the same holds true when I feed.

I'll know more tomorrow after I hear back from DD. I will be traveling for a few days but when I get back I will shoot some video of them eating.

How deep are these guys usually collected from?

It's been a long quarantine but some of that was due to me working on the DT and not wanting to transfer the pair until I got the bulk of it done. By last week the pair was eating virtually everything I feed the DT, flake, NLS pellet, mysis etc.

I transferred them Friday night after lights out and the next morning the were swimming around together eating and the big Venustus whom I was worried might take offense to them is just fine with his new tank mates. :dance:

I'll try to get a better picture of them together over the weekend.

An interesting development is that in the last three weeks both of my wrasses just upped and started eating the NLS flake I feed to the angels... Go figure.

Isn't this a deepwater fish? Are you keeping your temp generally low?

I keep my tank at 77F all year.

And yes they are a deep water species. I have an sps tank that they are in and the deep water butterfly's are the best bet for a butterfly in an sps tank...
