Hello everyone, I got my Regal Angel today, a 3 inch yellow belly. Right now I have her in a 30 gallon QT but I would like to get her in my DT ASAP. The great thing is she eats my frozen food consisting of shrimp, scallops, squid, artemia, and nori. The only thing I have noticed not so good is that she shakes her head every once in a while. I forget what this is a sign of and what meds I need?

Yes make sure you treat the fish for flukes.Mine came in with close to an infestation.I ended up doing a short freshwater dip to get rid of a few then treated with prazi.I wouldnt treat until eating well but it sounds like the fish is doing that.

Yeah, so far it's eating frozen food and any sponge/tunicates on the few pieces of LR that i have in QT. I'll order some prazipro then treat.

If you don't have prazi on hand right now, I would FW dip it for about 5 min., 10 min. tops. Then treat with prazi when you get it. I would also treat with cupramine at least before introducing it to the display, but that is great your fish is eating!

Yes, I was very happy he already ate. I'll treat ASAP.

Congrat on a nice addition.

If your Regal is eating then what's the rush to putting it in the DT? From what you're describing sounds to be flukes and the quick way to test is FW dip as Tim suggested. Let your Regal get a chance to rest and acclimate to eating prepared food before going into the DT where it would need to compete with other fish for food. If it's just flukes that's easy to deal with even if it's in the DT but if it has anything else that you may need to resort to copper or hypo in the DT is a nightmare.

GL with your Regal!

Thanks, your right I have dealt with ich in the display tank. never again, it was a nightmare. The good thing is she won't have too much competition in the DT. Her only tank mates will be a coral beauty and a trio of PJ Cardinals.

this thread is not as enjoyable without pics ;)
