Peaceful reef... because of my job I travel alot and my wife isnt too fond of taking care of my reef tank I will be using an Apex Lite system with a PM2 module with a Salinity, Temp, and PH probes. I also will be running a Toms Aquatics top off pump tied to a grainger float running through the Apex system. Currently looking for a 36" T5 fixture or another 250W MH and a pair of Koralia Evolutions 1400 GPH. Looking at some two bar lightning chromises, yellow tang, a few firefish, a lawnmower blenny, handful of margarita snails, turbo snails, and some red legged and blue legged hermit. Blood shrimp and/or cleaner shrimp.

Just ordered a Reef Octopus 4 in-sump skimmer, A Hydor Koralia 1400 GPH powerhead, and an ATO system. On Sunday will be purchasing another 250W MH, and on Monday purchasing 50 lbs (maybe more) of LR.... Today is day one of cycling

Tank with aquascaping complete(ish) and got the second 250W up top.... Loving the amount of lighting, got to get some fans wired up to keep the surface cool...

New skimmer and ATO gets here day after tomorrow and hopefully cleanup crew goes in next week....

Wanting to get the opinions of the masses on fan placement and direction... I have a few setups that I was thinking of, keep in mind that the fans will all be 4" computer stack fans (3 of them)

The first option of mine is 3 fans on top of the tank in between the two 250W MH fixtures, pulling air out of the surface area....

The next option is... 3 fans on the back of the tank. 2 of which will be pushing air in under each MH and one fan pulling out of the center.

And my final idea is.... 3 fans pushing air in and letting it flow out of the top around the MH fixtures...

Thoughts please....

Fans at the back will work really well, but have them all extract air from the space. It is easier to remove heat from a confined space than it is to try and cool that same space with the heat still present. I have tried it both ways, blowing out works better, not to mention the fans don't have to work against each other

nice looks like you are off to a good start. nice move with purchasing another light. when i had my 65 set up, my 150w mh melted the center brace.

I ended up saving 50 dollars and trying my luck with a 10 dollar 6 inch clip on fan from wally world.... 4 degrees drop already. Very pleased with the purchase

Well it has been over 3 weeks of cycling and I have a handful of invertebrates and a few fish in the tank now... 1 arrow crab, 2 emerald crabs, handful of hermits, handful of margarita snails and a few dove snails, and 5 green chromises... After a 5% water cahnge and a quick water test I decided to put a nice sized acro into the tank and it seems to be doing good. Has great color already and good polyp extension, might be looking either towards supplemental lighting or 20K bulbs for my 250W pendants.
