When you mix the Iwasaki 6.5k with the 20K radium you get a super bright 14K look. This is a picture of these bulbs together side by side.
250 watt HQI radium & 250 watt Iwasaki.

Thanks guy's,

originally I was running 14 Hamiltons with the Iwasaki's, but that gave a 10-12k bright look to the tank. So if anyone wants the 14K look, but extremely bright go with a blue 20K such as the radium and the Iwasaki. If you want a bright 15 K then probly 10K xm mixed with a radium 20K would give that look.
The reason I don't go with a 400 watt 14 K is because of the softies in my tank, they really like the 250 watt Iwasaki.

ye, cool color, you gonna get mad growth using6500k..i have 15k bulbs, ill show you what they look like with 10kpc's on..very crisp bright blue... <a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e19/spoonyluvr25b/DSCF0261tank10.jpg" border="0" alt="Image hosting by Photobucket"></a>

Thanks Becon, I know there are lot of very nice reefs out there as well. My reef is old. I started this tank 1998, some of the rock and corals came from my first reef in 1995. I moved to a new house in 2003 & transported all of the water and moved the tank in one day. Ever since then I have been trying to get it looking like it originally did.
As far as hosting a meet I think I would rather not have more than 4 or 5 people over at once. This way it's easier to get to meet people. I think the meets should be hosted by the reef shops, or the cny aquarium society, which I was a member for quite some time ago when I was in to breeding cichlids.
Anyone else have any unique lighting combinations out there, Lets see them:eek1:

I started with one rock with around 5 shrooms, ben about 7 years. I have given rocks covered with them away. I did have another 100 gal system that had a lot of them as well. I sold that tank to a friend. The hammer coral is only half of what it was. It also grows very fast.

I ran the same combination of bulbs for several years, and liked it quite a bit. Unfortunately, I'm too poor/cheap to spend actual money on my reef, and my LFS owner tells me he can't get the Iwasaki's and Radium's in any more... (personally, I think it's a load of horse.... but I'd digress). Anyways, I pay for my tank w/ frags, so I'm stuck on 10K and 14K's on the HQI, until I can find another way to buy Iwasaki's and Radium's w/ frags. I'm working on that part though, I'm working on it... ;)
