My new tank

Ok, I am new to having a saltwater fish tank. I have had a 20 gallon tank that i bought about 1 year ago. It had a bristle tooth tomini tang, a yellow stripe maroon clown, a chromis, and a fairy wrasse with some soft corals and an anemone. :fish2::fish1:

After about 5 months in the tang got stuck in between the filter and a piece of live rock and died. Then about 2 months after that incident I expirienced a power outage for about 12 hours.

Soon after this the tank went downhill. The wrasse was acting very strange and the anemone was not looking very healthy. The next day I noticed a spot of red algae (cyanobacteria).

About two days later the wrasse died for no reason. Then the next day the anemone went from a light brown color to a sickly colorless blob that had strings of what i belive was flesh coming off of it. So we took it out of the tank. :(

Now I just have the clown, the chromis, and the coral left. :headwalls:

I had wanted a bigger tank for awhile so i could replenish the tank. My friend was giving away a 55 gallon so I snatched it quickly before anyone else could.

I have that tank right now curing live rock. Ive been thinking and i finally figured out the fish and corals i want.

I want to get:

"¢ Black Nox Dwarf Angel
"¢ Royal Gramma Basslet
"¢ Spotted Cardinal x3
"¢ Blue Reef Chromis x4
"¢ Black and White Ocellaris Clownfish
"¢ Fire Fish x4
"¢ Green Mandarin
"¢ Marine Betta
"¢ One Spot Foxface

"¢ Long-Tentacled Anemone

Now for the corals:

"¢ Slipper/Tongue Coral
"¢ Bubble Coral
"¢ Devils Hand Leather Coral
"¢ Thin Branched Frog Spawn Coral
"¢ Purple/Green Torch Coral

Can someone go through the list and see if everything is compatible.

I also want to get an eel of some sorts. I dont know what kind to get. I would like one that wont eat my fish or hurt my corals. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Hey there and welcome!
Well, your 20 was overstocked so you want to avoid doing the same with the 55.
Avoid the Mandarin as they need a healthy tank with a hug pod population.
The Chromis will eventually kill each other and you will be left with one.
The Clowns could become quite territiorial and aggressive towards the other fish.
The Foxface requires a higher level of care and might not be a good idea as a starter fish...They also may bother soft corals.
Firefish are a good choice but can jump so make sure tank has a solid cover.
Royal Grammas are beautiful...sometimes territorial...but a good choice...
The Nox is a great fish but can be shy...wouldn't be surprised if the Gramma pushes her around, lol....They like to hide, so they need caves...she will prob. bother soft/stoney corals...need lr...
The Cardinal is a great fish...they like to school, could reproduce, and a great beginner fish...might not be to visable as they like the dark but will adjust...
I hope this isn't too neg.
Good luck and keep reading everything you can and asking questions...dont buy anything on impulse...
And most importantly...keep the 20 as a qt tank...
