I was going to set up a 10g nano for some aggresive inverts.

But instead I decided to modify my stand a bit and build new doors.

I measured the refugium and I was able to make a decent size space for a ?????????

16Lx11Hx15w 11.4g

Cuts some old molding, and some tank wall to make the sump/fuge viewable.

New doors,perfect to stare at when doing my pushup and stretches

Now my question is to you guys, what species is the smallest Mantis Shrimp I can keep in here? If it isnt possible what are some other cool inverts besides big hermit crabs and stuff? I want some onverts the prey on other animals, take me back to the Big Oscar/Pacu days hehehe...

O yea Im also looking for a bulb as white as my 1st 2 photos....The flash helped me out on those, but the other 2 is how my light is yellow and ugly, what other colors are cheato known to grow in? It would be cool to do blue but ehhh...

use a 6500k bulb or if it is a powercompact light use a sunpaq dual daylight for a crisp white light. chaeto does best at 6500k. hth.

Is it a fuge or a mantis tank? The reason I ask is because as travisurfer said, algae will grow best under 6500K lamps, and the white light you are looking for is more in the 10,000K. Algae will grow under the 10000K lamps but not nearly as well as under 6500K. Also do you really want to put your hand into the fuge to harvest algae, with a mantis running rampant?


If you are still keen on using the fuge over a seperate NANO, probably the best mantis for your tank is an N.Wennera, and they are fairly easy to get ahold of. TBS trys to keep a couple in stock. $50 shipped to your door.

Yes your right. I dont want the mantis tearing my hand apart...Thanks anyway guys I appreciate all the help.

I decided to turn it into a Xenia/Mushroom factory. Since these are spreading out pretty bad in the main display.

Plus the frags will be readily availabe for free to my Local Reefers.
