My new (to me) 30G Setup with Halide and more

Well I got my 30G today.
Set it all up, and here are the pics, the LR was already from the sump no already cured and cycled, and the new sand is right from YR 40lbs worth.

I have no done aquascaping yet, just threw it in there till the tank settles.

Went down to Exotic and got a 150W metal halide which claims to have the output of a 250W but not too sure about that, and that fixture came with 12 moon lights built in.
Then near the back I got another fixture 28W 50/50 PC for a dawn, dusk effect.

Double overflow RR with mag 5 running a drilled closed loop near the bottom back of the tank.

Here are some pics
Enjoy!!

Full Shot with Halides on. Man that thing is bright!!

Thanks for looking, and let me know what you think.

Try again, you were too fast.
I had not moved the pics to the server yet..
:)
They should all be there now.

Looks sweet! Trust me, you'll LOVE the sunpod! I have 2 of their fixtures over my tank. The stock bulb is a bit yellow so you'll probably want to replace the bulb soon (mabey not sine you have PC's). The phoenix 14K is a great bulb. Can't wait to see your aquascaping!

heheh mee too
:)

I don't seem to mind the color too much. It came with a 14K MH
I don't care for the super deep blues of like 20K but I guess I could handel it a tad bluer.

I may look into that.

Can't wait to do some 'scapen and stock with some critters!

Their 14K looks a lot like a 10K. I was happy with my stock bulb until I got my phoenix's. I think you'll get great color if you swith out the CF bulbs with 460 and 420NM current USA bulbs, then you shouldn't have to switch out the stock MH bulb until it's time to be replaced.

the rebirth... i will be following along on this one. =] man you have this thing up quick... you wernt kidding when you said you were getting super giddy to start it up. Good luck and hope you have as much pleasure watching it grow as i did.

Wow Steve! That is Bright. Did it settle down with water clarity? I love all the sump, piping, hood, lights shots. Sometimes I wonder what I like more, the actual tank and its inhabitants or the design and modification of all the equipment. Great job!

Larry, yeah I had 45 gallons of salt water made up and upto temperature last week waiting for this baby.
:)
Most can't belive it's drilled in the back!!

Max, I still have both of them, I feel "my" nano will become neglected once this tank starts rolling. I plan to move my fish and most critters out into the new tank. The old nano may be for sale soon..
:(

Boviac, yes it's clearing uptoday. I really need to get a small filter sock, and run some carbon, I think it would really clear up then.
I know what you mean about the equip. That's the first section I goto in the tank of the month.

Mihn, me either :)
Got some putty today so the assembely of rockwork can begin soon.

Tank of the month... yeah me too. I've got photos of equipment and tank rooms saved to my computer. I know, I know... I love the equipment although so much of it I cannot afford. So it goes....

Looks like a cool setup. That first picture is insane :P Luckily it cleared up and you can see. Should be a fun tank.

When you asked, I forgot, but, ya Ive seen it. Remember we were sittin pondering over the skimmer and came to the realization that you need more resistance on the output :) I got to see it after the dust settled and it has the makings to be an awesome tank! But this thread is crying out for an update

Ok, ok I will try and take some new pics for you guys.
You can see some of the tank in my contgroller thread
;)

The canopy came with the tank. It looks like it was custom, just some plastic glued together. It's very nice though..

I'll see what I can do about some pics.

Juan,

I made the canopy from black acrylic I had cut at Tap Plastics on Florin Rd. I woudnt say its a true canopy, just a extra tall trim around the top. ;)
