My new Tunze is running backwards

It's really weird when I turn off the pump (aquacontroller feed cycle) the pump doesn't turn back on properly. It kind of buzzes and looks like the impeller runs backwards. The pump is new and I've never had it happen with any other pumps including tunzes.
To fix it I plug it in and out a couple times and reverse the plug. Sometimes I have to hold it out of the water for a sec.

Any ideas??

A 6055? The controllable pump? That should be impossible, is it spinning backwards or just not spinning? I could imagine the drive unit could be defective so the magnet could spin and the propeller slips or stand still.

Sorry it's the Tunze Turbelle® stream 6065 (1,717 GPH). The impeller spins backwards

OK, a 6065 would be a mechanical problem, either the tips of the propeller have broken off or the fins in the front housing that stop the blades on a backward spin have been damaged. My guess would be the propeller, sometimes they are brittle because they are made of plastic with graphite and silica filler, occasionally the filler forms veins that are not bound with enough plastic, and snap on impact with the front housing. The filler gives abrasion resistance and overall strength but can form weak points if there is not enough plastic. Let me know and I will send whichever part you need.
