My new Yellow Clown Goby

What a wonderful addition to my tank. Named Sunshine! I bit ago I was thinking of starting a thread on him. I've had him 2 days. He hangs on my coral in plain view. I was worried when I got him if I'd ever see him, hes so small. Just a peanut. I looked up a bit ago and hes gone.... Found him in the overflow box. Did a Nemo on me. I was wondering about that when I put him in the tank... I've got quite a flow thru my 55. I siphoned him into a net I placed in the sump. Hes safely resting back on his nepthea. I'm sure that was 2 wild rides!

#1 He was so unafraid before will this make him spooked all the time? I spooked my 2 tomatoes getting a damsel out a long time ago. They rarely come out to this day.

#2 You don't think "The Ick" will get him do you?

#3 How can I prevent this from happening again? Whats a good thing I can use to strain my wier teeth ?

#4 Do you think he learned a lesson from this experience?

Thanks

1. Not sure. A lot of SW fish are pretty skittish--maybe because they've evolved to survive in an incredibly competitive, dangerous environment. He may settle back down after a while. I would just give him time.

2. Clown gobies do tend to be susceptible to ich, IME. Just keep an eye on him.

3. I don't know what you could use to cover the strainer that wouldn't risk slowing the flow too much and potentially causing the tank to overflow. Unfortunately, small fish like gobies do tend to end up in the sump a lot, which is aggravating.

4. Let's hope so, but I wouldn't bet on it. ;)

Thanks for the reply Vel. He does seem ok today. Staying away from that skimmer box. It doesn't seem to have spooked him. Hes right in the front perched and swims in the open alot. What a great fish. He's the one that was missing from my reef.
