My new Zoas

Well after last night's hullaballoo... I decided to take a trip to the LFS store and see if they had anything nice... Found these for $29.99

Let me know if you know the actual names of them... I'm just planning on calling them Purple Hornet's. :D

Here's the one's I played with:

Tweaked the brightness and contrast on these a little bit:

Here's the non color edited photos... just cropped to get rid of the blurryness, straightened, and re-sized.

Thanks Jeff.

I thought the orange ones were either Eagle Eyes, or Whammin Watermelon's... but I wasn't sure of the green ones.

I basically picked up the colony for the Eagle Eyes. There's probably 20 polyps of them on the rock.

second on that for jeff. you know what's crazy. i fraged my EE and one of the frags changed colors on me! it got darker and looks just like wammin watermelons.. under same light and was from the same colony with no mix zoas.. i'll post pics later

Thanks... now I just need to figure out a way to carefully frag the eagle eyes out of the dragon eyes, so I can get pure colonies and no mix between the 2.

hehe, good luck with that.. if you want a pure frag of EE i have some, wait i think your were looking to come by today or something right? or is it someone else i'm thinking about?

Yeah it's gonna take some careful work with a scalpel, but I should be able to get it done.... The bottom is primarily green, and the top is primarily eagle eyes... the middle is where they mix the most. Also, they're growing on a pretty brittle piece of branch rock, so breaking them apart into 3 chunks may not be that difficult. I actually dropped them after I dipped them, and broke off what turned into an 8 polyp frag.

I may stop by tomorrow on my way back to PA, but since I found these... I'm going to chill on the Zoas for a few weeks, and use these as my test subjects to see if I can get them to grow. I can always get them to live... just never had much luck getting them to multiply.

Either way, I'll give you a call before I head out tomorrow.

i like the mix
I'll probably leave a small piece mixed, and see how it grows, but I was under the impression that one of the Zoas will eventually take over and stomp out their competitor.

I remember seeing a thread a LONG time ago where a guy had nothing but Zoanthids in a top-down tank, and was experience a few colonies taking over the entire tank, killing out the others along the way.
