My Newb Questions

My Tank is not cycling is this normal? my tank has been running for a week and nitrite, nitrate, and ammonia is still at 0

Here are the tank specs, 10 gallon, 20 lbs live sankd, 10 lb live rock, powerhead for circulation and and aquaclear mini filter. 2w/g atm will be 4w/g soon

should i just toss that shrimp?

Have you been testing everyday? How long has the shrimp been in the tank?

I havent tossed the shrimp in sorry i missed the last "in" should i just toss that shrimp in .

I thought the live rock by itself was enough to get something going but i am not sure. I am using a test kit by aquarium pharmaceuticals.

If the LR was cured when you got it there would be no die-off to start the cycle.

Put i the shrimp and you should see your cycle start in the next few days. Keep in mind, you may not take the standard "weeks" to cycle becasue you are already using LR and LS in your system that has the beneficial bacteria on it.

When I cycled my cured LR it didn't take long. It spiked very little for just a few days.

I did my 75 with 80% cured LR and put in 60 lbs of LS had 4 hermits that hitchhiked in and they never had a problem and I never saw a heavy cycle and was adding fish on day 10. So you may miss it if you dont test constantly. Just watch for your Nitrates to come up do a water change and you should be good to go, but add slow.

I noticed some tube warms or what seems to be tube warms because they hide when i touch them. THey are very tiny about 2mm thats like 1/8th of an inch will post pictures later maybe i can get some IDS hehehe

I'd find a local enthusiast friend and borrow their test kit to make sure yours isnt wack.
