My newest Zoa project...creating a "Zoanthid SPS" coral...playing God....not really

Nothing notable yet. I have seen a couple of polyps sprout, but I haven't seen a ton of growth yet. Things are still trucking along though. I'm probably going to cut a couple more frags and glue them to the branches to try to fuel the fire.

Looks like it will be really nice when it fills in. What LFS do you shop that carries those type frags?

I fly over the VORTAC up there all the time! haha. It's part of our standard departure routing from the NAS.

Most, if not all, of the frags for this project were from frags from colonies I brought down from Oklahoma, but...

I stop in at Aquaria from time to time. I'm in flight training down here, so my spare time/reef shopping is limited. I don't make it far enough north to go to the other places, but when I stopped in in the past, all were good people. Water World, up by the airport, is a place I like to go to as well. They have some decent prices on some frags, but are a little overpriced on others. Aquaria is generally on the cheaper end of fair. Both are run by good people, so I give both my hard earned dollars.

No real updates thus far. These frags are growing terribly slow, as are their parent frags/colonies. I have a couple new heads, but that's about it.

I'll try to get some soon. I changed the tank up a bit, so hopefully I'll start to see some more growth.

The changes:
I added a reflector to the 70w MH bulb in the hood of my BioCube. It's just the one out of a Brinks halogen flood light.
I gave the tanka good cleaning. The frag racks were allowing a lot of detritus to build up on the sand bed, so out they came. I popped the frags (all zoanthid) off of the tiles and glued them to new live rock. Now the 'project' is the centerpiece and there are other zoa frags set up to cover the rocks below.
I built a filter of sorts for the top of the 2nd chamber. It is just a filter sock piece zip tied to egg crate that is cut to fit the opening. It just drops in to polish the water and is quick and easy to remove and clean.

Lastly, I added a Randal's goby and pistol shrimp. They've burrowed into the front right side of the tank, so they're open for all to see.

Hopefully the improvements will help growth.
