here's a picture of my OLD blue cespitularia colony.

this was a wild colony but it melted to 1/3 of it's former glory while i was over seas. long story short, it's regrowing very fast now but it's spreading horizontally but not vertically.

any idea how to make it grow as tall as it was before?

Soft corals often get leggy if they're not getting enough light, might try moving it to someplace less well lit. Alternatively, some soft corals adopt a more compact, close-to-the-ground growth pattern when in an area of high current. Cutting back on flow near it might encourage taller growth.

Just shots in the dark, though. My only experience with cespitularia is with a tiny frag I just received.

as you can see from the colony above, it does not look deprived of light. it's just very big. LADD sometimes have large colonies like this for sale too.

now it's 2nd progeny are all close to the ground, flow is very gentle. maybe it takes years for them to grow so big, like trees in the forest.

but we tend to cut them and frag them before they get the chance, but they do not get fragged in the wild and thus grow so large.

maybe i should just leave them then :)
