My old gigantea. RIP I have not seen one bigger.

Only a month, I worked my arse off trying to save it. I must have changed a 1000 gallons of water that month.
 
Sorry for your loss - looked to be an amazing gig, and you are right - pretty huge... I've not seen one that big before. Did it just start going downhill slowly or was it an overnight thing? Why were you doing so many water changes if you don't mind me asking?
 
It was fine for 2 weeks then started with the death march. Some people said to do water changes to try and help. It did and the nem lasted longer than it should, But ultimately it fell.
 
Im sorry for your loss. Thats a tragic loss. They are amazing creatures. I hope you have better luck with the next one. I had a haddonai carpet that I had to get rid of when it killed my stingray. Should have known that wouldn't be a good match. I thought my wife was gonna kill me when I dropped that bombshell on her.
 
Thank you all! I have decided to stay away from them UNLESS i see one that has been captivity for awhile. No more freshly shipped ones for me.
 
Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you'll come back in the future and try once again. If you get past that intial first month, your on the road to keeping one
