Roger,
I was told by quinn from aquarium arts to contact you in regards to my tunze osmolator 3155 not working. I have had it for about 5 months and recently it stopped pumping. After unplugging it and resetting it I could get the motor working for about 2 minutes and it would slowly ramp down and stop. Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

Richard

The PTC is activating, this is a type of circuit breaker that slowly separates contact if the pump is using more power than it should. Causes include a bad connection, check the pump wire connection, if it is wet, corroded or has salt creep it should be replaced, if it was wet, it is also likely the wires wicked in some water and may need to be cut back to clean shiny copper. It is also possible the pump is failing or jammed, the pump cannot be opened but if for any reason gravel or particulate may have entered it would be worth shaking it out and giving it an inspection for debris clogging it.

I checked the wires and even reversed them. Also I did run water through it and tried blowing it out but it didn't seem to change. What else can I try?

I would try another pump, check if Aquarium Arts has one to test with, inspect the connector closely as the newer ones are plated and corrosion will show as a white crust/film. If this can be confirmed, I can send a pump. The pumps typically last 2-3 years.

Hey Roger sorry I took so long. I tested my pump on another controller and it did the exact same thing. Also I tried a different pump on my controller and his worked just fine so I'm voting bad pump. What can I do?

PM me your address and I will get a pump out to you tomorrow, they are out of stock, but a shipment is due tomorrow.
