My Petco has a Personifier in stock

Thread Ender
Probably a Meridethi, small approx. 4" ... for the brief time I looked at it - it looked clean & inquisitive - It must have arrived this past thursday - what the heck to do?

Would anyone try & rescue it?

I'm thinking about it hard ...:worried:

That's a good size and if you decide to get it QT is a must and treat either hypo or copper. Not that it's anything different getting a new fish elsewhere but just extra caution must be exercised here. Unless the sale price is that good otherwise I would rather pick one up from one of the online sponsor here with a 14 days guarantee.

Gotta agree here.

How much is it?

Huuuuuuuum

Most likely you are looking at a Chaetodontoplus caeruleopunctatus( indonesia) blue spotted juvi.

There's another juvi that looks quite similar( having a brain fart now )

Both of my meredithis are from petco. They use Quality Marine.

My concern is directed more on the lack of care on the SW system at petco. I see more dead fish flowing in their tanks than at other lfs. They may get Quality Marine fish but once in their system it's not quality anymore.

edit: there maybe some good petco with sw system but I just haven't come across one.

I went back to check it out - it looks lightly "salted" (ich) now & actually closer to 3-3 1/2".

Poor thing

IME meredithis are extremely susceptible to ich. You will need to QT no matter what.

Tell them you'll give them a 100 cause it's sick. :)

Might work better than you think. :) Petco has a policy where it's not supposed to sell 'damaged' animals, they are supposed to adopt them out. Talk to the general manager, they are the only one who could discount it. Bring up that it is sick and will die without intensive treatment and the death of a fish like that will destroy their 'shrink' percentage. Yes, that's what they call dead fish, shrink.

Of course selling something like that will just allow them to order something even more expensive and more sensitive for you to feel sorry for. :/

.. I'm feeling bad for it ...

As mean as this may sound, trying to rescue or save the fish cause you feel bad for it is the wrong thing to do especially if your petco has substandard conditions for saltwater fish. Buying the fish let's petco make a profit and encourages them to bring in more fish and put them up for sale. The best thing to do is walk away and support you local fish store. Even if that means letting the fish perish. With that being said I'm sure there are some petco stores that are better than others. The petco near me is not one of those stores.

You're right - I can't bring myself to do it.

Although not get into a debate or hijack my own thread but I went to 2 popular LFS this weekend & the tank conditions were atrocious - plenty of dead specimens to go around... I'm in Somerset county so without naming names, you might be able to guess ...
