Thanks, I've had them about a year and a half, got them about as young as they ship em.
Female is close to 2"
Nem is a Malu, so far my favorite nem I've owned.
The male is the snow.
Yeah, for a nem not considered rare or hard to find, mine was pretty hard to find!LOL
But I love sand dwellars for mixed reefs(no rock walkabouts) and these guys stay relatively small for a host nem, leaves coral space.
The first few spawns are weak, so most let a couple/few go, but yes, I'd like to breed these guys.
I'll wait a couple more batches, hopefully they keep at normal 2 week spawnings.
I think the 2 would turn out some nice babies.
They spawn very regularly now, to the point I can look at the female and call w/in a day or 2 of spawning.
I definitely plan to breed them, just had a very busy spell w/ work and haven't been able to set up a breeder tank for them.
They both are very protective of eggs, and the male just loves them, lays across them all the time.
Thanks, they are great parents, and another bonus is they don't bite me like my maroons did(knocking on wood)
Even when I had to move their egg covered rock doing maintenance they didn't bite me, to my surprise, cause I was pretty much expecting a bite doing that.
I sure hope they stay that way.
I'm playing w/ my new camera right now, charging battery, hoping to get updated pics of them and tank tonight, I'm long over due.(and tank is finally nice and clean)
What a cool pair. By the looks of them, one spawn would probably pay for a breeder setup. Your corals are feasting on some very expensive fry right now:eek1:...lol. I know what you mean about the maroons. My female gb maroon attacks me every time I stick my hand in her half of the tank. She obviously hasn't learned not to bite the hand that feeds.
I bet a lot of your friends have called dibs on the babies!!!
Yeah, I already have a breeder set up ready to build, just a matter of free time to do so.
I don't mind that corals or fish are getting a healthy meal out of these, it's pretty common that we let the first few batches go anyway as they tend to not be healthy eggs at first.
But I plan to set up pretty soon, spring usually means nicer weather, longer days, easier to finish work in time and still light enough to deal w/ projects.
I also have an awesome bright neon green malu(dyed) nonetheless awesome nem. My question is how long have you had yours? wondering about the color of it? was oit dyed or can you fidn the malu's in the red you have in nature?

Well, you might be looking at my avatar, which is a RBTA.
I really want to swap my avatar, but then everyone will forget who the heck I am!LOL(maybe that could be a good thing...):rolleye1:
I'm not sure what has you sold on yours being dyed, I have seen other bright colors of Malu's out there, yellow, orange and green mix, pink, and mine which is purple.
I have to look for post date to be sure, think I've had mine about 7-8 months now.
Thanks for the info, i meant to say purple not red(i did confuse it with your avatar) thats great news that it may be not died, i was just under the assumption it was since it was such a bright green malu. I would post a pic here but i dont want to hijack your thread, maybe ill start a new thread
