This is what it has become. Most corals seem to be ok so far but i really need it to settle. Worth it though. Tiger pistol shrimp and YWG.

New sand? I did the same thing last week, adding more sand and rubble for the goby and shrimp. It cleared up pretty quickly and the goby loves it. Not that we see the shrimp much, but I saw him pushing a big (comparitively) piece of rubble to one side of the entrance of his burrow this morning.

btw, the new sand caused a diatom bloom - I've been adding Bacter Gen M to help boost the new sand and it's going away pretty fast.

What happened?

Just the shrimp stirring up sand. Looks cloudier than it is. Apparently I did not wash some of it well enough. the sand was smooth but you can see, its now just a massive cave. Stole two xenia frags earlier. Had to dig around which didnt help. I found one, but guessing the other is buried deep in there. Gonna mark it as a loss

And just heard the pistol shrimp firing. Crap! His last goby turned up dead mysteriously, and Im hoping he didnt just get made at this one and drop it.

Wow, he's busy :) How big is he? Our red-banded pistol is really small, only 1-1.25", so he doesn't make much of a mess. He and the YWG live next to each other, but as far as we can tell they don't actually live with each other. Either that or they have separate entrances to some vast and mysterious cave system under the rock!

about 2" maybe a bit less. He had a purple spot goby but it just went belly up. Wasnt too much of a mess with him but I just added the YWG yesterday and now its a huge mess. Mine live together and do the whole YWG warns him thing.

Pistols can't actually kill fish unless the fish are incredibly tiny. The snapping is meant to sting and frighten intruders rather than kill them.
Yeah, they're gonna make a mess. I suggest shifting some rocks a bit to kind of halfway corral that area, as that may help a bit. Also, give him shells and rock rubble to use instead of the corals.

He has a ton of shells. I go shell hunting in Sanibel island so shells are not a problem. I gave him a bunch more and raised all my frags up. Tank is much clearer today. Couldn't make a tank look this beautiful if I tried so that is nice!

Goby is also ok.
