My powder blue

I have a PBT and it only eats green seaweed by ocean nutriition which has been shredded up like almost a flake form. It does not care for all portions of the seaweed I think and does not like when its attached as a large chunk to the glass. I usually just smear it between by fingers in the water and it eats certain portions and spits others out.
Anyway I have not been able to get it to eat anything else. My fish store get ready for this was feeding it with lettuce primaraly. I know it is pretty healthy since it was in the store a few weeks which made me more comfortable in buying it. But is only eating alage enough for this fish. My other tangs eat spectrum and hikari pellets as well as other flake and pellet foods in addition to the algae. I know they are major grazers just want to know if that is a healthy diet.

the powder blue is one of the more delicate tangs....you can try using garlic on its food to entice it, but if it gets hungry enough, it will eat it....please don't feed this poor fish lettuce!!! it has no nutritional value for the fish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..instead, supplement its food with vitamins....this fish needs vitamins!!!...i use Zoe and Zoecon...the seaweed is best for the tang..try to give it a variety, with the seaweed being its primary food..Formula 2 frozen cubes are a good herbivore food for this fish..be sure they are completely thawed before feeding to a fish..hope that helped you out :)

my PBT was a picky eater when i got him. he wouldnt eat the alage strips until he seen my Coral Beauty eat them. the only thing he would really eat was frozen mysis, and brine shrimp(alive or frozen). for some strange reason he wouldnt eat anything red, and once he started eating the algae strips, if i used a red clip, he wouldnt touch it. now he eats anything i put in the tank. that includes flakes, frozen, algae strips, or live foods. but he still doesnt like the red algae clip LOL.

try frozen foods to see if he will eat any. frozen Formula 1, 2, mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, emerald ontree', etc. once you get him eating just make sure to feed a varity of foods, and try to have some algae strips for him to graze on during the day.

Thanks for replies
I saw him peck at some hikari pellets. He is not the most agressive fish, I added him just recently and he was bullied a lot by my yellow tangs, But now me is pretty well mixed in. I wont feed him lettuce dont worry. It was myy store that was doing this injustice. Thankfully he is doing well. I have some formula 2 frozen cubes that I will try out as well as some mysis.
