My Power plan...

well I think the best thing would be to get the APC and see how it works it will have a Tunze 6080 @17w. Will see how long it will last.

well iam back with the unit now. I will let it charge for a bit and unplug it. The I'll plug in the pump. Let see what happens.

Backup plans are essential but here's one important tip to take away with you after Hugo's crash -- if you have a serious problem, DON'T BE SHY! Start calling people!

So Cal RC'ers are good people and will help out if they can.

I can agree with Nicole. When I called hugo it was a shock to me. That is why I went and got the backup plan started. Not only that but August in still not here and it gets hotter then which equals rolling blackouts.

I'm going to go ahead and try this unit: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...t&productCategoryId=cat08029&id=1138083732315

I will let u guys know if it actually lasts 8 hours. I saw it today and the difference I saw with this unit is the size of the battery. It's a 40ah battery while the APC APC Back-UPS RS 1000VA, I think comes with two 9ah batteries.

RB That does not make sense. I would double check it.

What doesn't make sense? The part of the 2 batteries? It's another brand that has 2 batteries, cyber something.

I installed the software that came with the ups on my laptop. Without anything connected to the UPS it says I have 737 minutes of battertime, but as soon as I connected a maxijet 1200 it dropped down to 162 minutes and it says the load is 43 watts.

I don't think the program is accurate though. I plugged the laptop and usage went up to 60 watts, but when I uninstalled the maxijet wattage went down to 43 watts again.

rbdesings. I ended up geting the apc bx900r since circuit city had them instock and was cheaper then everyone else. I did do a test run w/out charging the unit. I was able to get a full 2.5hr off use time with the tunze 6080pump. I think at a full charge I might be able to get more. I will let it sit overnight and charge, then I will try it in the morning and see what happens.

I just tested the AP1500 with one Maxijet 1200. I Drained the battery to 50% and it ran for 1hr 53 minutes. According to the software I had 243 minutes left on the unit. I am going to charge it back up to 100% and test it with one 6100 tunze.

For anyone still looking for a larger UPS COmpUSA has Belkin 1500 VA ones on sale for $99.00 after rebates.
