My Prized Muelleri Butterflyfish has bumps all over body

The fish has been on the floor (trying to scoop with hands) and been stuck in a net (after hands failed)

Been there, done that. Fish are remarkably resilient sometimes. I had a declivis butterfly leap onto the kitchen floor without issue, shockingly.

Ziggy is in the reef!

Ziggy is in the reef!

Ziggy is in the reef! His move was easy, I admit nervousness since the last time he landed on the floor; the new colander proved useful.

I've been trying to get that great reef + fish picture, but he doesn't want to swim around much yet. When I first put him in the tank he did some rounds, looked for worms in the rocks and then settled under a rock arch. When I come in the room he swims out a bit, then returns. I can see where his scale was removed from the biopsy and he has a large cauliflower chunk of what I believe is lympocytis in the area. He looks happy, but still settling in.

Yay! So glad to hear he is back in his home. :)

There he is! It doesn't matter how many pictures you take with a cell phone they all suck. I'll see if Tyler will set up his nice camera...

He's very active today and swimming strong. The glob of what I think was lympho has fallen off, now he's left with a bit of lower beak inflammation (not hindering eating) and what looks like scars where the sores were/scale removed. The progress feels great.

Such good news Sarah ! I've been following along since the first post (butterfly nut myself). So good to hear he's rounding the corner to full recovery. Your diligence and perseverance is inspiring. Sometimes when a fish's condition goes bad, it's easy to give up hope.

Thank you, it's been very rewarding to have put forth so much effort. I went from seeing ich a few times at the fish store to learning about neobenedenia and scale biopsies.

Ziggy continues to improve in the tank. His energy level has increased to normal, he's alert and hungry almost all the time. The lower jaw swelling is receding, the redness is gone. On his left side there are scar like areas, where these areas are white there are still little white nodules attached, one even formed on his mouth inflammation at one point. Bob Fenner suggested they are mucus.

I'm hopeful others will find value in this thread and be able to help their fish with flukes. Remember QT anything wet!!!!!

You can see his left side sores that have been healing, they show no sign of inflammation or redness although, there are sporadic bouts of lympho.

Happy Ziggy day:

The healthy female clown has also returned to the main and a new skunk cleaner shrimp, Pierre. Sadly, I lost the Maxima clam due to "pinched mantle disease." On a more positive note (sounds like a good idea anyway) I ordered a 130 gal cube tank to transfer everything into in our new home.
