was used as a sump. will it matter if there is still a little silicon caulk on the bottom and side of the tank? i wasn't able to get it all scraped off.

That shouldn't be a problem at all.

I believe that if the tank was used as a sump then any silicone that was used has been proven safe for use. As a side note, I recently built two sumps to hook up to my main DT's, used silicone to hold baffles (5 per sump) and placed them into use 24 hours after siliconing (per silicone manufacturers recommendation). No problems; I think you'll be fine.

thanks everyone. it's not real pretty but i'm going to use it. maybe it will make the fish appriciate their pretty display tank more.
