My Randall's goby is a killer!

I couldn't believe it when I saw it, but my Randall's goby attacked and killed a small cerith snail last night. He waited in ambush, then shot out just quick enough to grab the snail's exposed body, then shook and bit him violently. It only lasted about ten seconds, but when he was done, the snail was dead and partially shredded. But then I was even more amazed when he picked the snail up with his mouth and swam it back to the edge of his burrow and set it down. His candy pistol emerged immediatley, grabbed the snail and drug it back into the burrow. I never knew the pair of them would hunt snails!!! I guess I'm going to have to keep a close watch on my snail population.

That is way to cool!!! Well I guess not so cool for the snail but at least your pistol will never go hungry.

That's amazing. It also makes me want a pistol shrimp/shrimp goby pair again.

That is really cool. I want a goby shrimp combo... except snails arent really THAT cheap.....

That's really interesting. I wonder if they needed more food since they don't kill just to kill. feed the tank more?
