My Reef to Rainforest Build

MY SRO 3000INT ran great for 10 months... After that its been a nightmare dealing with Coralvue.... many returns and a wrong part, and still the skimmer isn't working. Only about 3 weeks of running since the end of October. Finally, they decided this week to send a new pump. Ugggh

I totally agree, the two inches from the return area and putting it in the skimmer area would be ideal. Let me know how that works for you, too late for me, but hope its good for you

Oh it's too late for me as well as my setup was brought online around June..lol. I will keep an eye one mine since I am almost at the 10 month mark as well. Did your pump just bug out? I was looking at the dc controllable pump for mine as a "just in case" pump. Glad to hear you are getting yours back online soon.

Bug out is kind of right. The first time the clear plastic just tore off in the middle.

Coralvue sent a replacement part.

It happened again. Coralvue sent a replacement part. The wrong one. Then the right one.

It happened again. We sent the entire pump back to Coralvue. The replaced the impeller and sent it back to us.

It happened again, this time not breaking, just not working. I sent a video in. They are sending us a new pump. So since the end of October my skimmer has run for about 3 weeks. Fortunately, my corals are doing ok. Probably wouldn't by a SRO ever again. We'll see how this one does.

Sounds like you definitely got a lemon of a pump and while trying to convince Coralvue they probably lost a customer...I'm sure the new one will be fine

Replacement pump is in and foaming up a storm. ;)

Ordered 2 Hydra 52s this morning which will be replacing my 6 AI Sol Blues. 2 might not do it but we'll see. Ordered a Neptune AWM to go with the Hydras.

Glad to hear and I love my hydras, I have two and maybe ordering a 52 to go between the regulars.

Hey thats a thought. If I need another maybe a regular Hydra would be the way to go. Do you use the Neptune AWM with them? Can you mix the 2 different Hydras with it? Looks like you and I use quite a bit of the same equipment. :)

Pretty darn close! I don't have a controller yet as I was still deciding between an apex or reef angel. I also use the Director and Supposedly it will run both mixed or separate it out to a different group.

I love the Apex, can't wait until Fusion is released.

Have you gotten your Hydra 52s yet? I have been running them with T5 supplementation since the beginning of January on my 90. I'm actually buying the sols from you to run with them to get more blue. The hydra 52s put out a ton of light but it is a little white for my tastes. You may want to keep a couple of them just in case to see how you like it. I also high recommend getting the director rather than running them with the apex. I have heard that ramping is a little choppy from the apex.

I got the hydras on Wednesday. Still playing with the settings. Using the one on Neptune, they have the blues at 0. I'm going to add some blue and see what happens. Good point about keeping one or two of the sols. From what I understand the upgrade to fusion will make the ramping much smoother. Thanks for purchasing two of my Sols. :)

How do you like the new lights? Have you added any new corals? Mike

I like the lights, only using 2 Hydra 52s. It might need another. I added a couple corals from a frag swap, they're doing good, but I have had a couple older frags bleach on me. I don't think its the lights though, can't really pinpoint any reason.

Why would you think it wasn't the 52's, those are insanely powerful especially if whites are over 40% without acclimating

Because 99% of the corals are doing great and thriving. Lost 2 corals. Im coming from 6 AI Sols to 2 Hydra52s that are raised higher than the Sols were. It could be that I was gone for 3 weeks and had no water changes.
