My Reef to Rainforest Build

An update finally. Tank is doing good. Got flatworms, but otherwise corals are growing. Got a new camera - a Nikon AW1 - underwater to 49 feet. Went to St John and St Martin a couple weeks ago and going to Bali in February. Cant wait to get scuba certified there.

Couple shots from today. Corals growing good but my magnesium is low (1080) and I can't seem to raise it. Calcium is high (580/600) Wondering if its the test kits, Salifert for Mg and Hannah Checker for Ca.

Beautiful reef! Congrats!
Particularly i don´t like the Hannah CA checker, as it has a 50ppm error margin, and 50ppm is a lot. Used a couple years ago, don´t know if it has more acurate version of it nowadays.

Thank you.
What do you use to measure your Calcium?

Beautiful build and fantastic corals! How do you like the trigger systems sump? I ordered the same one for my build except I asked them to make it 42x16x18 and my sro 3000 still barely fits.

I do love the Trigger sump, my only issue is that its really difficult to get to the filter socks behind my SRO 3000. Are you getting an SRO 3000INT? I have had major issues with that skimmer. Since October I think its only ran 3 weeks. They have FINALLY decided that the pump is no good and supposedly there is a new one on the way to me. Fortunately, my corals are all doing well even without a skimmer. But too much hassle for something thats under warranty.

Unfortunately I ordered my sro 3000 after I ordered my sump and didn't take into account the filter socks and the pump. So I too have a small issue getting to the socks and I can only have the skimmer in one position.. If a had to do it all over I would have had them take two inches from the return and refugium side and add it to the skimmer area. Other than that the skimmer is fantastic with no issues with its pump. I tear the whole thing down every few months for a deep cleaning. Other than that it runs 24/7.

MY SRO 3000INT ran great for 10 months... After that its been a nightmare dealing with Coralvue.... many returns and a wrong part, and still the skimmer isn't working. Only about 3 weeks of running since the end of October. Finally, they decided this week to send a new pump. Ugggh

I totally agree, the two inches from the return area and putting it in the skimmer area would be ideal. Let me know how that works for you, too late for me, but hope its good for you
