My Russell's Lion Fish went Lionfish on me

OK....Ok.....First let me start by saying that I was wrong. You can not keep lionfish and control its natural behavior. I tried training it to accept food items from me only. This worked until I stopped feeding him everyday. When I came home from work today I noticed that his belly was large...After taking inventory I noticed that the Diamond Goby was missing. Hes gone now. Took him to ABC Pets in Perinton Plaza. Order a new goby too. I guess this is what i get for going against the will of ReefCentral. After speaking to some lionfish owners I thought that I could duplicate there luck with training....Nope can't be done. Experment Over. Hypothesis proved wrong. I thought it was going well too.

You are not the only one who has had an experiment go wrong. I think half the fun of keeping these tanks is learning. Sometimes you learn the hard way and sometimes you prove everyone wrong. I must admit keeping a lion with a goby is pretty experimental/risky. Sounds like you made a good choice returning the lionfish. :)

Yeah once he discovered that he could hunt his tankmates there's no point in keeping him. I am quite sure that from here on it would have been a fish every other day.

 they'll do that on occasion.

No need to be sorry...Its my own fault I was just posting the results of a trial gone bad. Al the jokes are well warranted.

You can take the Lionfish out of the ocean, but can't take the ocean out of the lionfish. Instinct will ALWAYS take over.

When I had a lion, it ate a 4" blue devil damsel. I figured it was big enough to be safe. It's amazing what those things can swallow. Still a great fish for the right set-up though.

Don't remind me... I just order the diamond goby to replace him. so with the old goby and the new that was a $60 plus meal...I can't remeber the last time I spent $60 on a meal for myself...
