My seahorse is floating!!!!

She just started doing today. I noticed it when I went to feed her and she wasn't able to swim down to get her food. What can be causing this?

Very possibly Gas Bubble Disease.

You will need to find some Diamox for her.

Sadly in females it is very hard to treat, it could also be worse, internal organ failure.

Get some Diamox asap.

It would also help to add extra airation to the tank and to bring the tank temperature down gradually to 68 degrees by no more than 2 degrees every 12 hours. If there is an underlying bacterial infection, this should help slow it so she can fight it. Do you have pics? Is she floating by any body part in particular?

same over here. No floating parts. Where do i get diamox? How do I treat?How long do I have unitl he dies? Sorry to hijak but I have to go to school right now and don't have time

Get enough for a 5 day treatment.

This must be done in a hospital tank, NOT the display tank.

Dose is one 250mg tablet per 10G of water. In a small container, crush one tablet in a little tank water and dissolve the medication, then add to the hospital tank. If there is any sediment in the container that is not dissolved,throw this out.

Do a large water change after 24 hours(at least 80%) and remedicate for 5 days.

This med can affect the appitite so be sure to have a variety of foods on hand, including live to offer the horse during treatment.

In setting up the hospital, be sure to match the PH,sg and temp they have been in. Then begin slowly lowering the temp of the hospital tank.
Be sure to have plenty of aeration and comfortable hitches for the horse.
