my shrimp died out of no reason?

when i left for my graduation everything looked fine in my tank.. and then when i came back from my graduation, my shrimp was hanging upside down and i was seeing my snails going after it... odd, it just died out of no reason? everything else looks fine.

my nitrate is a little high 20 ppm, but its been like that for awhile now.
0 nitrite
ph level looks alright
and im not sure about the ppm total hardness and ppm total alkalinity/buffering capacity on the 5 in 1 mardel test strip if they calculate in saltwater..

It's called life. Things die. Sometimes for no apparent reason. Possibly acute myocardial infarction...
How long have you had it for?

Might have been on its way out...or could be a molt. If you see 2 shrimps in there, it's a molt.

There's always a reason. The thing is that sometimes we just don't know. Could have been an external factor...could have been health problems. Somebody donate a shrimp to the poor guy! What kind was it?

it was a cleaner shrimp... hopefully it molted, but havent seen him since yet. i im guessing it really died.. i liked my cleaner shrimp too, i was watching him clean all my fishes!

That nitrate is pretty high. Are you using a filter pad, sponge, bioballs? They tend to fight live rock, and nitrate can climb.

none of those, i had my nitrate at that level for the time i had him. it didnt bother him.
