I just finish fulling up my 90 gallon tank with water of course..anyways..when i have started everything, my skimmer does not want to work..The skimmer would suck in water but, i dont see no bubbles at the top of the skimmer..Do you know what im doing wrong??

oh ok..lol..I would do that tomorrow..Im just testing my things that i have got for my tank, just ot make sure everything works...i have spent about $2,000 on this tank..been getting parts since the start of this year =o

Sounds like you really need to do a lot of reading my friend! No offense intended but if you are about to set up a reef tank you should know that. Good luck!

I really did not intend for it to be offensive at all. Salinity plays a big part of protein skimmer performance. The higher the salinity the better your skimmer will work. What kind of skimmer do you have?

Best thing would be keep on reading and reading because you'll learn faster then learning from your mistakes and that can cost some money in the long run.

have salt in the water yet? not gunna bubble much at all without salt in the water.

I made the same mistake.

Yea i got the salt..I have not put the salt in yet,Im thinkin to get live sand next and then live rock..but once i get live sand that when i gonna start putting in the salt..then order live rocks or buy them at a fish store..

Yea i know...but i gonna get the sand next..after i get the sand i gonna start putting some salt in it..my tank is a 90 gallon overflow

The live sand and/or live rock MUST have saltwater. If you put it in freshwater, you will kill bacteria and vast amounts (if not all) infaunal organisms--which means that you will be throwing away the money you spent on it. If you add dry sand before mixing the salt into the tank, you will have trouble getting it all dissolved, as it will sit on the sand (which you will have to stir up to aid in dissolution).

I gonna put in the salt in first..then I gonna test to see if the water is level right with the salt, then i gonna put in live sand..how does that sounds?
