My slightly ghetto, yet kind of nice temporary tank.....

As many of you know, I tore down the nano, and transferred all the stock to what was previously my QT tank. Its a 30 gallon standard, and its just been thrown together with whatever has been laying around. I took some pics today and I figured I'd share.

I recently battled with AEFW, and treated with Bayer dips once a week for 6 weeks. Since I believe I'm in the clear, I mounted all my acros and milles this week since I had some extra time off (should be working on my big tank, but that's another story, LOL!)

Since I'm selling my nano, I pulled the LEDs off and put a halide over the tank.....I also have 2 kessils for supplementation.

Couple more angles....

All corals basically grown in my nano from tiny frags. SPS are still coloring up....More pics to follow......

Birds nest do really well for me. Posted these pics before, got these frags from Marvin a while back....

Ponape....Bird of Paradise.....Green

Check out the growth on this Bird!

Ponape.....

Green is just as big.

Here is a free 4th of july birdsnest I got from Tray. Starting to branch like crazy and coloring up....

This Mille was hit hard by AEFW. Had Zero polyp extension, and looked ragged as heck. I origionally got this as a small 2 branch frag. Polyp extension is great now, and color is still blah.....

Another Mille, grown from a 3/4" frag, also got hit hard from the AEFW. Polyp extension not great yet, but seems to be coming back. Color is very plain....

My bonsai, which turned turd brown has its blue coming back slowly but surely. Lost a huge portion of it with the tank transfer.....

My fav SPS, the blue on this is insane in person, pic does not do it justice. I have no idea what it is....

Also have no idea what this is....was totally bleached. Now the polyps on the growth tips are electric and a bit of blue/purple on the tips....

Recently I've been struggling with nutrient issues. When I did the transfer, I had corals bleaching, and just looking pale. I added a bunch of fish and started to feed like crazy. I went a little too far and started to get some algae. Now I'm playing the balancing game. I think I've got it almost figured out. I'll update as things grow out.......Thanks for looking:beachbum:

I use a Canon SLR, with a sigma macro lens. The FTS was taken with a standard zoom lens.

Marv, thanks for the suggestion. I will try it. I have noticed that the anthias prefers the PE Mysis over frozen preparations, but have seen it eat Roggers food.

Try it for the sunburst. My purple queens now eat Roggers. But it was after a couple weeks of feeding brine shrimp (live and frozen). They love nutra mar ova if you can find it. I think Exotic Aquatic is the only lfs that carries it.

VIP also has that and *cough* zeovit *cough* stuff locally...

rovster have you tried to dose the tank with amino acids?
if you want to try a good mix - continuum elements N and T along with Aquavitro's Fuel.
do this twice a week and watch how happy they get.

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, in the last month, I have made too many changes to my system and am struggling to find balance. At first I had low nutrients and pale corals. So I added fish, too many really, and started feeding much more (much more mouths to feed). I also started dosing the Zeo nano pack. Which is basically Pohls, CV, LPS Amino, and SP. I'm dosing in very low quantites. I also changed the primary light from my Biocube hood I'm trying to sell, to a 250 halide.

In general, the paleness and bleaching went away. Some are coloring, some just have some brown, which coming from bone white, is a good thing. I'm currently battling high nitrates, so I started carbon dosing, which is still in process. I have backed off the Zeo supplements because I'm getting some algae, not a lot, but more than I'm used to seeing. Still ramping up the carbon dosing, will be doing that slowly.

All that said, SPS corals appear very happy, most SPS are nicely colored. Zoas just don't lok good in my tank ever since I went SPS. For nutrients, I use my bonsai as my guide. When it starts browning, it means I need to back off the crap I put in my tank. Right now, the bonsai looks good, so I'm staying the course. I'm curious what things will look like in a month or 2. I know these things happen very gradually.

what camera/lens are you using? Pictures look great. Tank looks pretty stinkin good for a temporary situation

YEAH! What my fellow Angelino said

Thats one sweet ghetto you got there. Good luck man. I admire all the focus you are putting into keeping your live stock healthy during the transition.

This SPS is REALLY starting to color up. It was ugly and colorless, starting to GLOW!

Frogskin I got from Betabed. Thanks bud! You said this was not colored. I'm not sure what the heck you're talking about, because this one glows as well!
