my snails are going for a walk out of my tank

Do you guys ever find dried up snails that just come out of your tank and wonder ***.Now since I bought all those snails from the group buy ,those little rascals are trying to escape.I find them either at the top of my tank, right above the water line or on the carpet. What can I do to prevent this?

Check your tank temp. I have heard that if it gets too warm (or cold) they will try to venture out to find more suitable habitat.

Don't worry about the water line, there is usually a line of algae that grows there that they feed on. It is the ones going carpet surfing that are concerning.

My $0.02

Hey Matt,
Just wanted to say what great customer service you provided me today. You are a true asset to the company you work for. As soon as you spotted me window shopping, you politely asked me if I needed anything. Greg should be extremely proud of you. Thanks again.

what kind are they? ive heard Nerites can leave the tank sometimes.

+1 Nerite are tidal snails.

most of stuff on that group buy list was warm water carribean stuff ...dont do to good in the cooler temps prefer temps of 82 or higher

Mine from the group buy is doing that too.
Never had that problem with any other snails.
Temp is stable also...(right where it should be)

my temp is also stable ,I got 500 of those little suckers, and am trying to baby sit them. When I get up in the morning I'm looking behind the tank,on top of the plastic rim of the tank to see if I can save them.If I would add all of them up I would say that about 20 or so commited suicide. There is nothing also worse then feeling helpless.

I bought around 40+ from the group buy. I keep my tank around 76-78. It stays stable all day/night. I haven't had one run for the hills yet. Is there a steady/constant food source for them. I have plenty of algae/gunk to keep 1000 busy....lol Post on Other Invertebrates and see if anyone can make a suggestion.

The dawrf ceriths that I got have been staying in the tank, only problem that Im having is they are going down in the over flow but thats no biggie they come right back up...
