My snake coral is finnaly opening.

real estate? sure. shelf gives you more room for coral. Me, being a coral junkie...this is very important......

artistically....i draw from diving experiences when i will hover over a "shelf" and watch fish hang out underneath....the other is that shelves like that provide great resting places for caps to grow out...or zoo gardens....my bubble coral? i placed it on a shelf in the 90g. It has now grabbed ahold of the rock and will continue to expand...it's just a nice structure.

is that what you were looking for? and please...i am no Master in this by any means..

Ahh , I thought thats what you meant. lol Well... I was trying to leave as many cave and crevices for all the fish and inverts. With leaving as much of the sb available for nutrient export. Coral space was important tho, and I felt it was a good compromise with the pieces I had. I also was thinking of our 2 year old and how the tank looked from his vantage point. This is just as much for him as it is for the two of us adults. so there was a lot of kneeling looking up at the structure as I was building. It made for a couple of awkward moments.. my father was here helping me and he was asking if I was alright"you ok? you need to take a break?".. No dad, I was seeing what it would smell like if I was a midget.lol

oh that's pretty funny...kinda like when our son decorates the Christmas tree....all the ornaments are at the bottom....imho...go for the shelf..you'll be glad you did.

Honestly, i kept my mouth shut. Glad i did cause, i sure woulda put my foot in it. You did a hell of a job. If it continues to go in this direction Im sure it will look amazing.
