Okay what should i do about the gfo just leave it on for now?

And i can see now after discussing this how my light might be to bright. The tank is 24" high and I have a 6 inch dsb. And the sps coral is only maybe 8-9 inches under the water

I am not a fan of GFO. I never had good results running it, but haven't for at least 5 years now. If you take it offline just monitor PO4. I run biopellets so I dont worry about phosphate.

What do biopellets do?. Im not familiar with those

This is a topic that requires some reading
They are a solid carbon source. Used properly they are a great way of keeping nitrates and phosphates in check. I am a huge fan because they are cheap to run and implement and are extremely effective. Also low maintenance.
