man... I really should have built a zero edge, if I wasn't this broke these days...
the light is so high up because I don't want to burn any corals in there, the tank is only 9" in depth and it's a 250W MH, it should be more then enough. I actually have the same lighting setup on my 12G nano and I put it 10" above the water surface. I can't keep any zoas at the top, I mean hell, even the middle ones are kind of burning. also I want to stick my head in between and I don't want to burn my head too

which I almost did the other day...
the overflow is HELLA noisy, I have a standpipe in there which you can see if you follow the link to nano-reef forum. but the standpipe isn't working too well, I need to fine tune it to make it a little bit more quiet...
till this day, I don't know how much I spent already, but all I can say is, the main tank cost about $70 in material, sump cost around $50, wood for the stand I have a lot lying around the garage, but I would say it cost no more then $20, plumbing cost around $35, pump is $50, hydor flo $15, sand I have a lot, live rock around $70, MH light was from my 90G, but I would it cost me around $150 before, thermometer $10, heater $25, sump light maybe $25, so I would say all together is around $520 give or take. but as I said, a lot of the stuffs are my 90G leftovers, it didn't cost me as much.
I am planning to put in as much clam as I can afford and as much as I can maintain with just dosing 2-parts, and I will also put in limited amount of zoas and SPSs.
the hydor flo did not kick up any sand at all which is awesome, it got a decent flow, u know 310 gph in a 11G, that's almost 28x turnover rate. but the sand didn't move a bit, that's good because I want to keep the clams on the sand bed, so no direct flow on the mantle.
