My tank build thread - Dual 40s

Chelsey, what are you feeding him? I am trying to figure out what sort of wrasse to get, and I'd like to have a group of them. I am considering that kind, among others. LiveAquaria says this about the Carpenter's and feeding:

When first introduced into the aquarium, live saltwater feeder shrimp should be used to entice this fish to eat. In the wild, it is a plankton feeder; in aquariums, its diet should consist of finely chopped meats and live or frozen brine and mysis shrimp.

Would Cyclopeeze work? I'll feed some frozen mysis but probably not every day.

Mine would eat frozen cyclopeeze, frozen enriched brine shrimp, and formula one flakes, and probably just about anything I'd throw in the tank.

I get harassed in DIY for my poor attitude and recommending use of minimal sized wood for stands all the time so I figured I would have trent do up those renderings and stress models to avoid any of the dorks pulling the "I would only use 2x10s and 6x8s in my tank stand...maybe even reinforce it with some 16" I-beams"

After seeing Lonnie's thread about paint I figured I'd pose my question here. What kind of paint should I use for the inside and outside of the stand and where can I get it? Thanks in advance!

Chelsey

I used the cheapest crap I could find for the outside since I just went with black

used the same crap on the inside......DIY forum would say to seal everything with 6 coats of marine grade epoxy, siliconing all joints, covering with rubber and using a heat gun to shrink wrap it

Will the salt corrode the paint and get into the wood over time?

yes, but luckily salt doesn't affect petrified wood, which it would be by that time, so you'll be fine

nice Chelsey, I will cross my fingers that it keeps eatting and doesn't disappear like the others I have seen in the past.

I hope it does ok Dennis...he'll be one of two fish in my tank for a while (it'll be the potters and the bicolor blenny, once the tank is stable of course) so hopefully he'll have some meat on his bones and be aggressive by the time I add anything else. I asked how long the fish had been there, and they told me a few weeks, and that it has been eating anything they toss in the tank (except corals of course).

I actually had one that was eating wonderfully, Until I saw him swim into a powerhead, It was not pretty :(

Hopefully he is in the Fade's fuge, if Not that will be a hard catch in his display.

i know. i was there last night.
before i get any new fish i want to get rid of this stupid srgnt major fish. he's a bully. and i suspect the cause of my recent dead fish.
