Hi RC,
I got some funk going on and maybe you guys can help.
Perameters
Kh: 8.7-9
Mg: 1400
Cal: 480
Nitrate: 10
Phosphate: .03
Ph: 7.8
Temp:78
SG: 1.025
30% water changes every other week. RODI and Fritz. Religiously.
Aqua illum. 52 hydra at about 40%
60 Cube
Blue sapphire damsel
Yellow candy hogfish
6 line wrasse
Trumpet coral
3 acans
Various zoas
Birds nest
Hammer
Aussie war
Two problems:
1) recurring cyano. I have experience with dealing with cyano. I have done lights out, vacuum, water changes, cut feeding, increase flow, chemiclean, etc. I have a patch that doesn't give up. Even if I beat it, it comes back. It's not hurting anything but it's like a turd in a punch bowl.
2) biofilm. I am having that famous biofilm on the water surface, but more severe. Aside from standard film there are white "chunks" of slime mixed with it. It's almost like an allergy-infested gnome is sneezing in my tank while I am gone.
Anyone have some suggestions?
