My tank Pics

I have found a way to keep the costs down in both. The tank is used and I am done buying the big items. I haven't spent any on the tank in 6 months except utilities. I stay away from the stores and frag swaps except if I want to unload a bunch of xenia. I traded xenia for my frogspawn and all my food and supplies. I just need to take a bunch down to CR. As for the boat it is a 1978 and was (is) pretty rough. I have found used sails to keep the costs down. Concord Yacht Club is the least expensive place to keep a boat in East Tennessee. It is not for profit and the slip is 25 a month, with dues of 400 a year. Has to be a sail boat though. If anyone would like to go sailing let me know. I have to fix something on the boat, but will be ready when it warms up.

I'd like to go sailing! Need some lessons...We've got an old 17' Thistle racing boat, but I've never been brave enough to fly the spinnaker. It's fun to take out in windy weather since it's so fast, but I'm not a very good sailer; my brother and I did flip it once...he had to swim almost a mile back to the house to get the powerboat
BTW when it warms up all the ETRC folk are invited over for waterskiing/boarding, etc

There are a bunch of Thistles at CYC. I raced all over the country (mostly southeast) one year and got 10th out of 80 boats in the Nationals. There is an invitational Thistle regatta at CYC in May every year, like 15 to 40 boats will attend from all over the southeast. Thistle is one of the most active one design classes in the country. You should bring it to the club, i can probably get you a parking spot for it if you wanted to leave it for a while. We can put up the spinnaker. We could race it if you want.
I am surprised no one mentioned the xenia explosion!

Thanks Mike, I'd like to learn to handle it a bit better, maybe I can tow it up to Concord and meet-up with you some time. I did notice that xenia growth--looks like it could be a good nutrient-export though (and not bad if you can trade it for credit!).

The lights were hung temporarily when I took the canopy off. I used to have them inside a tall canopy but it was too hard to work on the tank. I had the lights turned the wrong way in canopy. They are supposed to go perpindicular to the longest dimension of the tank but I guess now it is a compromise. I dont worry about stuff like that much especially since it is in my basement and I don't have much company way up here in Lafollette.
Matt-do you know how to catch stripers (rock fish, striped bass) there on Cherokee? I live on Norris (back of Cove Creek) and been wanting to catch some of those tackle busters.

That's how I just set up my lights...perpendicular to the longest dimension of the tank. I think it gives a much better light spread and it makes the reflectors more effective. If you guys remember...I had them that way (perpendicular) on the old tank. I just had them parallel on the new tank while I had the ghetto lighting system up there.
