Well, I'm back, took a several year break, and now slowly getting back in. Should really have a moderate size tank forum since mine is not a nano, and don't come close to the 500 gallon tanks here.
My tank, it is a 30x30x22, internal overflow, acrylic, used and has scratches but hey its mine and its what's inside that matters right.
The stand and hood I'm going to try a open concept, no doors on the stand and finishing all the wood, and for the hood, I will put doors on it but maybe the doors will have louvers or just a couple layers of screen material, basically want air to flow through, but keep as much light in. Stand and hood are painted black and trimmed with ceader.
As for equipment so far, since MH are so cheep right now, and for cubes not much in the way of LED fixtures, plus if ya really do the math, most of the time you end up with just about the same wattage over your tank. I got a screaming deal on brand new galaxy select a watt, lumen Max reflector and 250 watt Radium bulb. For skimmer I got a bubblemax 2500 for free (well not for free, but I bought a system and kept what I wanted and parted it out and got all my $ back) an ehime return pump, and a couple cheep power heads.
