My thoughts on E.T.R.C.

I am hesitant to comment on the club seeing as I have yet to even join but I think my experience being president in an unrelated club my help. I realize ,not being a club member yet, I have no right to tell the club how to operate. These are very similar problems we face in my club so for what it is worth my thoughts.

1.) Annual Membership dues; Regardless of the amount or what the money goes towards paying a monetary fee commits the member to the club. The member feels like they have something vested in the club and wants a return on their investment, attending club functions is one way of getting their moneys worth.

2.) Scheduling dates; Meeting dates should be a set date and time each month. Scheduling around one or a few members causes lower attendance long term. With a set date short term attendance will suffer but with time members can adjust schedules to allow for the club meeting. It is easier for some to not have a meeting than to miss one. People hate to feel like they missed something and with time will adjust their schedule to work with the "set in stone" meeting date.

3.) Club officers; When people gather two things always follow, disputes and "clicks", and you can not solve disputes fairly when the club is divided. The officers have to be a separate entity to the different groups that always form in a club. Rotating officer positions help with unity in the club and serve as a voice for the club in its entirety, not the loudest or most popular group. The wrong choices in officers is a death blow for a club, I have seen it first hand!

Thanks for the input Mark:)
The first 2 are covered. We probably need to put in some sort of addendum about Saturdays in the fall though. Lots of people miss because of the games.
The 3rd was covered until a few months ago. Hopefully it will be covered again soon:)
thanks, Chris
