My Tigriopus Pod farm diary

Well, just thought I'd share my successes/info on farming/breeding Tigger Pods. The Tigger Pod farm is a 4 gallon container with an air pump pumping about 2-3 bubbles per second. It is kept at a temperature of 72F(during the night) - 80F(during the day) Once the population gets higher, I'm going to upgrade to a much, much larger container.
Here are a few Microscopic (40x-400x) pictures that I took not too long ago.

You can see the tiny tiny baby Tigger Pod in the eggs. There is an arrow pointing at one.

Also, I forgot to mention that the Tigger Pod farm walls are covered with a dark towel as I was told that they like it that way. I'm currently feeding them decomposing sea weed and flake food. Once I get my phytoplankton cultures going, I'll add it to the mix of foods.

so cool, I had phyto and rot's going for a few years but never managed to start up a stable pod culture.

Looking forward to seeing your progress

Well, I started another Tigger Pod farm. I used a 6 gallon black container(there is only 5 gallons of saltwater tho), added an air pump that's bubbling 2-3 bubbles per second, and It is kept at a temperature of 72F(during the night) - 80F(during the day). Here are a few pictures that I just took.

Both containers side by side.

A plastic dish with the amount of Tigger Pods I'm going to put in the Black container. My plan is to culture them in the Black container for about 1-1.5 weeks, strain them all, and put them in the same plastic dish I used in the beginning to see how much/fast they reproduced.

Here is a video of them in the plastic dish.(the plastic dish is a little under 3.5 inches in diameter)

Well, after studying and watching the Tigger Pods, I've found out how to tell male from female even when the female is without eggs. :D

Moses, are you using any substrate? For surface area?

By "decomposing sea weed and flake food", do you mean that you pre-decompose the food? Or just let it decompose in the water?

Nope.

I throw it in the tank and as it decomposes, the Tigger Pods eat it.

Maybe the males prefer pink flake food and the females prefer green seaweed :)

Also, is that a no on both accounts? No substrate then?
