My Tunze 1073.040 is loud.... Why?

I have a 1073.040 that has been running for about 10 hours now. And its LOUD! the vibration sound is like my dishwasher running, causes my whole tank to vibrate a bit. I have 14" of flex tube from the pump to the pvc. Everything is 1".

Do I have a faulty pump? I was told this pump is so quiet that you can't tell its even on.

Something is likely wrong. To start I would open the pump and make sure nothing is inside the impeller well. Also check that the impeller shaft is not broken and that all pieces are present and that the ceramic bushings are fully inserted at the front and back. Usually this problem will be from a loose ceramic bushing or air trapped in the pump (check that no hoses are kinked). If it is still noisy after you check everything let me know and I will send a new impeller, I have seen a couple pumps that came with the wrong 50Hz impeller.

I opened it up and nothing is inside, nothing looks broken or missing, and the ceramic bushings can not be pushed in any more by hand anyways. And neither bushing seems loose.
Most is hard plumbed pvc, the 14" flex tube is free of any kinks.
