Well I am in the process of upgrading and just starting a typical build thread for help and info. I already have the tank/stand/light.

Tank and stand is a AGA 210 RR with maple mission stand.

Light is Aquactinic Constellation

Not sure what skimmer I will be running but I'm sure it won't be my current DNW-200 as it's to tall for the stand and all equipment has to be inside the cabinet on this one (wife's recommendation) ha..ha.. Probably going to go with an in-sump skimmer just not sure which one.

Need to get a sump/refugium also so if you have one available let me know.

This is all I got so far other than some equipment im currently using in my 120.

Not going to do SPS in this tank just LPS,Softies,Zoas and fish.

Not sure of what size return pump I need so any recommendations???

more to come
:D

If you are doing these corals why do you want to skim? Are you planning on a ton of extra large fish?

Great looking tank and lights!

what are you thinking for fish? I'm with Phil,I would rather go with softies and macro algae to clean up the water, and then light skimming for the waste. if theres a lot of fish

For the amount of fish we are going to have, a skimmer is going to be a requirement plus the fact that I think tanks look more polished when a skimmer is ran on the system. Probably not going to run macro refugium, not completely decided yet but pretty sure. It just depends on the sump I purchase if it has a area for it or not. I don't think one will be needed if a quality skimmer is used.

I'm thinking about using the least amount of rock in the display with the majority in the sump. I have about 250 lbs. to play with. Wife wants a canyon aquascape, I want two small islands. She's just going to have to change her mind.

hey like the stand! make it or buy it? jw

No it's made by AGA. It is there mission style stands, cost a little more than there standard pine stand:D

"Jimmy Neutron could kick sponge bobs arse any day of the week, and fry his little hole??.??."

That is what my 5 year old nephew shared with me at dinner tonight, so I thought I would pass it along. good luck with the new tank

Thanks for that inspiration Darrick. Truely a nice tank

I read the whole thread.Quite the tragedy with his tank springing a leak but happy it came out alright for him.

i love those fish he has great colors, can't wait to see pics of yours up and runnin. what bulb configuration are you going with on your constellation.

UPDATE:
Well I have purchased all the items needed for the upgrade and wife has had the new water sponge laid....I mean carpet:D .

Just got my new skimmer yesterday

and got a real nice sump from Fade.......

Now just need to gather a few friends to lift this beast into it's new home. I think my fish are tired of reading the rubbermaid logo in there current tank and are ready for the transfer. KNOCK ON WOOD.... I haven't lost a thing while the corals/fish have been in there temp. housing project, which was one of my greatest concerns, but turned out not to be a problem.

:D

Thanks for the offer but I live about an hr 1/2 away from the BIG city and just wouldn't want you to drive that far with gas prices the way they are but I really appreciate the offer.

The skimmer is a tank. I'm very impressed with the quality and materials used. The lid to cup weighs a couple lbs. The instructions to put it together are not the greatest but Mike @ www.reefspecialty.com called and walked me through the build over the phone.Probably get it running over the weekend.

UPDATE:

Reeflo has been running strong.I'm really impressed with this skimmer and can't wait to get it set-up on the tank with a heavier bio-load to see what it can really do.

I Purchased a SPECTRAPURE RO/DI unit and a couple Tunze 6101. Took a couple days to plumb tank and get everything lined out but ...

THERE IS WATER going in.

Started filling the tank with water a few days ago.Seems like it's taking forever to fill but I figure it will be full by tomorrow night. I'm getting a custom cabinet made for the left side of the tank for skimmer, reactors,ATO etc. The tank will be viewable from the front and right side only. Not sure when the cabinet will be done but I couldn't wait any longer.

I didn't see what return pump you choose. I thought I'd offer JMO. I've only had two pumps so I can only speak of them. A mag pump, which I had no issues with and is still running on a friends tank. It's about 3 years old now. And then the pump I'm using now on my 225 RR system. It's a Baracuda pump thats rated at I think 4300gph? I'm only getting 3600gph due to head loss and the 90* elbows but if you ball vavle it you can back the flow down and not hurt the pump plus lower the watts it draws (ball vavling at the outlet not inlet). Then if you decided later on you want/need more flow you have it there already. JMHO on my experince with the two pumps I've used. :)
