My Vortechs are flowing

Now back to business, what I have noticed is if I swing the magnet cleaner close to the pump, it will usually see red within the next six hours. I turn off the pump and carefully clean around it, if I have to use the magnet cleaner these days.

Guys-

Please keep this thread on topic. The other thread was closed down because we went off topic, let's try and avoid that from happening again.

You should be glad that thread went down. That was horrible.

As for the red light of death... I have only had it happen 2 times that I do not know what caused it. The others were snail related. I did however walk in the other day to find that the inside protective housing had fallen off (i have no idea how that even happened since it kind of screws in). Anyway it was making this God awful slurp noise occasionally. I looked all over for what was doing it because I didn't notice the case being gone. The propellers look very scary when they are not covered by the housing. Long story short.. I do not know how all my fish were not made into marine snow. I really lucked out.

One of mine would NOT stay running if the speed control was set to anything below 50%. It stalled with red lights every time within minutes. A new driver from IceCap fixed that. My other Vortech would suddenly speed up WAY BEYOND the max speed setting and then stall with red lights after a few seconds. A couple of times it started up again by itself after a few minutes. I swear it was possessed. A new driver from IceCap fixed that.

After replacing both drivers I haven't had any problems with pumps stalling.:)

Curse you MARC! What did I wake up to find this morning?? A stalled Voretec. What did I tell you about Murphy?

Kris, I thought you said the curse would land on me? Looks like it went exactly where I chanted it to: your tank!

Hope Melev don't mind i use this thread to post my view.

My Vortech is doing great and i love the flow so much (compare to my previous experience with other wave maker)

I don't know how long it will take a customer outside US to own such a cool Wireless Controller but i really hope that some of the future upgrade can have the following:

1) Install a small fan or some extra fins to dissipate the heat. (or restart the pump automatically when the temp cools down) My pump stall during hot weather due to hot pump with high ambient temp.
2) Night mode to encourage spawning:D or to prevent sleeping fish got suck accidentally. Reduce flow by 50%-60% at night, etc
3) alarm if pump stall.

Love both of mine and plan to add another very soon. Hope you guys have plenty on hand to sell at MACNA this weekend. :)

Wow Wonder, I thought I was the only one having heat issues. I feel your pain man! All good suggestions.

Mine get pretty hot as well. Both are running full bore. No issues thus far. Yes, I am knocking on wood too. They are about 2mos old. My basement temps cool about 20 degrees from summer to winter (80's to 60's). Wonder what effects the heat has on bearing life though?

I haven't had any bearing issues related to heat. I would guess that the ceramic is fairly resistant to heat damage.
