My Watchman Goby is Turning White

I have a watchman goby that has been in the tank for about 4 weeks and he seems to be doing fine, but about a week ago one side of his face and gill plate started turning white. I took him to the LFS and they said it wasn't a parasite, virus or bacteria. They suggested that it might have gotten stung by my bubble tip. He was out yesterday and I noticed that the other side of his face and gill plate are also starting to turn white. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

I thought this was just what girl gobies do.

I once bought a gray Watchman Goby which my LFS told me was a different species from the Yellow Watchman. Over the course of two or three weeks it turned yellow, just like any normal Yellow Watchman Goby. The color change can go both ways.

If I put another yellow one in there what are the chances of breeding?

When I got mine it was white. Same thing happened to me, after a few weeks..yellow.
I thought it was from shock.

I'm not sure what you have to do to get them to breed, but raising the fry would be a challenge. Gobies are mostly hermaphrodites that can go back and forth so getting two to pair up is a matter of whether or not they get along with each other. If the tank is big enough that they can form separate territories in case they dislike each other, it shouldn't be a problem.
