My zoanthids do not open up!

I have a colony of Zoos and they used to open up, but now they seem to all stay in a semi-limp state. I am not sure what is wrong. Other zoos, my hammer coral, and my green star polyps seem fine.

My salinity is about 1.024 and my temp ranges from 79-83. My nitrate is 10mg/L and my PO4 is *about* 0.2 mg/L.

I don't see any nudis. Is it just that some zoos are more delicate than others? I thought they were relatively hardy.

I DO have 3 peppermint shrimp. Yes, I wonder if that is the problem...

How long have you had them? I have never had a peppermint shrimp bother my zoo's. I had a colony suddly close up and fade away after several months in the tank. Those looked like cyano had covered them, and they were gone.

I have had them longer than I've had the Zoos. I don;t really think it is them, but I guess anything's possible. it seems the water conditions are not to their liking.

Do Zoos like to get fed? I notice one of my Zoo colonies is expanding all over the place, and all I ever do is feed the fish.

Never have target fed my zoo's. Occasionally, I feed cyclopeze though. My paly's will eat then, but not sure about my zoos. I have some zoos that spread all over the place, while some just don't spread at all. Of course the uglier one grow quicker, but they are beautiful in their own special way.

My only other idea, and just an idea, is phosphates.

I had a colony of zoos do the same thing. It was my only zoos that were doing it (closing up, and not fully opening).
I moved them around in the tank, until finally, one day they decided they liked there new location. Now I have them growing everywhere, and wanting to overtake everything around them.
This moving period was over about 4 weeks. I would relocate, and give them a few (3-5) days to see if they opened. If they didn't , I would try another location in the tank.
Just a thought.
